Do you ever dream of moving to a completely different province in Canada?

While I would certainly miss the great “PNW” as we affectionally call it (the beautiful mountains, ocean, rivers, temperate weather year-round, endless outdoor activities, and collection of a diverse group of cultures) the real estate markets in other parts of Canada have a lot to offer for $500,000!

Recently CTV News compiled a showcase of homes across a number of suburban cities in Canada to compare. Check out the link for pictures or the below table for a quick comparison.

With a population of nearly 20,000, White Rock is a bustling small community in the SW corner of the Lower Mainland. It is a member municipality of Metro Vancouver. The moderate climate has made it a haven for retirees who enjoy an average summer temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and an average winter temperature of 6 degrees Celsius.

Named for a large white 485-ton granite boulder that probably arrived on the beach through glacial movements millions of years ago, White Rock is also part of the Coast Salish people’s narrative.

According to one legend, a rock was hurled across the Strait of Georgia in honour of the bride of a young chief. He indicated that wherever the rock landed was where they would make a home together. The legend suggests that

When your income doesn’t seem to keep up with your expenses you soon run into troubles keeping up with paying bills and making ends meet. But what happens when the housing market prices far exceed our income levels?

I came across an article this morning that claims Vancouverites are too poor to afford BC real estate within Vancouver. Furthermore the writer claims that “it’s astonishing we even try.”

I think that a lot of the main points shared in this article help to put the real estate market into perspective as well as highlight the opportunity potential of buying Langley, White Rock and Surrey houses for sale:

  • Vancouver has the highest average house price in Canada but an average income below most major Canadian cities.
  • The average

When I speak with clients new to the Surrey or Vancouver area (and even clients who have grown up in the Fraser Valley or Lower Mainland) I often get the question: Where is Newton?

Newton is located at the heart of Surrey and is the most populated community in Surrey, which is the 12th largest city in Canada.

Reasons to Choose Newton Real Estate

Whether or not Newton is at the top of your list for desirable neighborhoods there are several unique aspects to the community and setting that I find intriguing:

  • Newton has over 50 parks to enjoy
  • 35% of Newton’s surroundings is actively farmed (think fresh air, fresh produce and open space)
  • Over half the population in Newton is a visible minority making for cultural diversity
  • Extremely

Anyone who has grown up in the Fraser Valley or spent any number of summers here is likely to have fond memories of heading to White Rock Beach, climbing the giant "white rock", getting icecream, walking along the pier and standing in awe of how far the tide goes out and quickly it comes back in. In today’s blog post I want to share a few more reasons why White Rock is one of the most desirable communities outside of Vancouver and in the Fraser Valley for real estate.

Reasons to Live in White Rock

Also known as “South Surrey” White Rock is home to beautiful estate homes, traditional seaside homes and upscale trendy condominiums. The list could go on and on but here are some of the more popular reasons for choosing White Rock as your home.

Also known as Annieville (the community’s founding name) North Delta is a middle-class bedroom community in the Lower Mainland located just outside of Vancouver, BC.

Not only does North Delta offer affordable real estate alternatives to Vancouver’s pricy market but it also offers a beautiful community to live and play. North Delta is full of parks, recreation centers, biking trails and plenty of green space.

At the last published census data, North Delta’s population was just shy of 52,000 residents.

Where is North Delta?

North Delta is only a 20 minute drive outside of Vancouver, BC and provides a lot more open green space and cheaper real estate for British Colombians searching for more affordable living.
